WHUT-Howard University Television Announces Premiere of “The Golden Year: Howard Women’s Basketball”
On Thursday, March 21, WHUT-TV released the trailer of "The Golden Year: Howard Women’s Basketball.” The documentary discovers the legacy and history of Howard University’s Women’s Basketball Team.
The documentary is set to premiere on Wednesday, March 27, at 9 p.m. EST, and viewers can watch the premiere on demand. Featuring past and current players and coaches, the documentary celebrates the team's 50-year dynasty.
Since 1974, the women’s basketball program has been committed to excellence that extends beyond the court. Facing triumph and challenges, the women’s basketball team continues to raise the bar— embodying the spirit of resilience, determination and pride.
In 2022 the Lady Bison won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship game— their ticket into the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament for their sixth appearance and first time in the tournament since 2001.
The university’s women’s basketball team is coached by esteemed head coach Tiesha “Ty” Grace. Since 2015, the team's performance has been consistently elevating under her leadership.
In her tenure as head coach, Grace has scouted standout players and created a culture where talent is cultivated through resilience, drive and shared purpose. The program's current roster is filled with talented players who represent determination on and off the court.
