Alma's Way: Explore Your City Recap

Alma’s Way Explore Your City was an exciting initiative that brought the beloved Alma’s Way series to life by showcasing how Alma and her family use public transit to explore their city.

This project not only highlighted the adventures of Alma but also emphasized the importance of public transit in our communities.

Each event featured local family-friendly organizations and destinations that families could visit via public transit. It also shone a spotlight on the crucial role transit employees play in our daily lives. This collaboration between public transit and public media organizations aimed to support local families and celebrate their communities, promoting ridership and tourism while continuing Fred Rogers’ legacy of social-emotional learning.

The event highlighted three different types of transit-facing partners using the colored Metro lines:

Green: “Go” – Types of transportation

Yellow: “Slow down” – Transit safety and resources for families

Red: “Stop” – Family-friendly stops along the Metro/Bus lines

We celebrated one of our favorite PBS KIDS shows, Alma’s Way, and how she uses public transportation to explore her city! We encouraged everyone to be like Alma and explore their city, too!

We were thrilled to bring Alma’s Way Explore Your City to the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. The beautiful Yards Park boardwalk was the perfect venue for family fun with WHUT PBS KIDS and Fred Rogers Productions.

Special thanks to our partners! Thank you for joining us on this wonderful journey and discovering the joys of exploring your city with Alma’s Way!
