To kick off WHUT’s newest series, @HOWARD, Howard University, and the Hill hosted a special event designed to raise awareness of the pivotal role Black women play in American politics.

On Monday, April 8th, WHUT aired a fireside chat on Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Open AI co-founder Sam Altman as part of its original local series @HOWARD. Moderated by President Ben Vinson III, the conversation dived into the future of AI and proposed one important question: is AI hurtful or helpful?

Trailblazers, present-day athletes, and future leaders in basketball gathered for WHUT’s 2nd annual ‘Black Women Soar’ ceremony—a tribute to the contributions of Black women in sports. The event kicked off with a celebratory dinner allowing current and former players to celebrate the legacy of the Howard women’s basketball program.

Since 1974, the women’s basketball program has been committed to excellence that extends beyond the court. Facing triumph and challenges, the women’s basketball team continues to raise the bar— embodying the spirit of resilience, determination and pride.

“202 Day” is a new programming initiative spearheaded by WHUT Director of Content Angie Ange. Launching Thursday February 2ND, “202 Day” celebrates the rich history and stories that often go untold in the District of Columbia.

WHUT has been awarded a planning grant to develop a Learning Neighborhood plan to engage local partners and extend the reach and impact of PBS KIDS early learning resources in the community. WHUT will receive approximately $10,000 through the CPB-PBS Ready To Learn Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Veteran media personality Angela “Angie Ange” Hailstorks is letting her talents shine back at her alma mater. Angie Ange has been tapped as the Director of Content at WHUT – Howard University Television effective Monday, July 18th.
